For the first time in the world, Nanjing Fifth Bridge has innovated a steel-concrete composite structure tower, which encases the concrete inside the steel shell, first reducing the possibility of concrete degradation in the atmosphere. At the same time, the steel shell and the concrete tower column as a whole participate in the force, the bearing capacity is high, the seismic performance is superior, the landscape effect is good, the structural performance and long-term durability of the cable tower can be effectively improved; and the factory-made and assembled construction technology is adopted. Most of the steel bars are pre-punched in the factory and assembled with the steel shell as a whole. Only the steel shell ring joints, the inter-section steel bars and the pouring concrete are needed at the site, which effectively reduces the strength and difficulty of the field work and improves the project quality. It is understood that the cost of the cable tower with this structure is basically the same as that of the concrete structure, which is lower than the all-steel cable tower.
